Princess Sumaya University for Technology’s “Mr. Robot” team clinched first place in the Hack My Robot Competition, part of the CSAW (MENA) Cybersecurity event held in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The competition was organized by New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) in collaboration with the S.M.A.R.T. Construction Research Group. It focused on enhancing the security of robotic systems used in construction. The team comprised Networks and Information Security Engineering students Badi Abu AlGhanam and Mohammed Al-Sarabi from the King Abdullah II School of Engineering. They successfully hacked a robot system simulating real construction operations, showcasing exceptional technical skills.
University President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija congratulated the team, praising their outstanding achievement and emphasizing how it reflects the university's commitment to academic excellence and technological innovation.
Dr. Osama Abu Sharkh, Dean of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering, also commended the students, highlighting the school’s commitment to equipping students with the necessary skills in robotics, programming, and cybersecurity. He emphasized that this achievement underscores the high standards of the Networks and Information Security Engineering Program, which covers diverse aspects of cybersecurity, including network protection, information security, and intrusion prevention.
